#DryLandTouristChronicles: Konoko Falls

It’s summer 2016  & it has been a fine one so far!

I had been hearing about Konoko Falls for awhile & so when my alumnae association decided to host our annual fellowship there I was more than elated!

#DryLandTouristChronicles : The vibes can’t Dunn!

When my friend Francine told me that she wanted to climb Dunn’s River Falls for her birthday I could not resist this unique way of celebrating her birthday. The week leading up to it we were a bit worried because our friend who was driving wouldn’t be able  to make the trip but we decided to hop a bus & turn the trip into a full on adventure.

I think adventure should be my legal middle name lol.

We headed downtown to the bus park on a bustling Saturday morning to catch a bus to Ocho Rios. We were unpleasantly surprised to find only one bus with only smaller “middle” seats available & we were not about to endure that drama. One of the vendors in the bus park told us our best bet was to take a bus to Spanish Town because the next bus to Ocho Rios wouldn’t arrive until 1 PM…this was at 10:30 AM.

#DryLandTouristChronicles: Paradise Found…My Week In The Bahamas (Part 2)

Welcome to Part 2 of my Dry Land Tourist expedition to the beautiful Paradise Island in The Bahamas.

Thursday, May 5th

We decided to skip training & head to the Aquaventures Water Park at Atlantis but before our little adventure we had an informal lyme at Starbucks. This was my second trip to Starbucks (I went for the first time the night before) & can I tell you how frighten I was lol. It wasn’t my first time having coffee, here in Jamaica we have numerous coffee shops the most popular being Cafe Blue (Jamaica’s Starbucks) & Rituals (Trinidad’s version of Starbucks); I guess I was a victim of mass marketing (via YouTube) lol. Anyhow… our little lyme gave us a chance to chit chat with some fellow Rotarians.

Chilling in Starbucks

#DryLandTouristChronicles: Paradise Found…My Week In The Bahamas (Part 1)

This is one trip I am more than grateful I had the opportunity to go on. It literally happened in less than a month and a half.

I remember a few months ago I was watching some of my favourite Beauty YouTubers vlog  their experience at The Atlantis & thinking how cool it would be to go there. Who knew that a few months later I would be sitting here blogging about my week on Paradise Island.

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

The morning of my trip I had to wake up at 5AM because my ride to the airport had school at 8AM. Luckily for me my mom sat with me in the airport until I was ready to go to the departure lounge.

It felt like my flight took forever to board! Once I got on the plane, however, I was more than ready to start my adventure.

The journey to Nassau was smooth & I have to give thanks to Caribbean Airlines for their exceptional service. The only issue I had with my flight was that one particular stewardess was not very friendly especially to the lady sitting beside me. I don’t know if she was having a bad morning or what

The Lynden Pindling Airport was massive! I felt like I was walking FOREVER to the Immigration desk.

Just landed…can you tell how excited I am?!

Shanny’s Airport Survival Guide

It has been a week since I returned from my latest trip and while I was at the airport in Nassau I decided that it would be cool to share a few tips on how I survive the airport whenever I am taking a quick trip overseas, especially for shorter flights (under 2 hours).

#DryLandTouristChronicles: Road Trips & Site Visits

On February 6, I tagged along with my friends to the North Coast for site visits at two hotels.

A quick day trip turned into a love affair with both properties we visited & my beautiful country so I decided to blog about my experience.

#DryLandTouristChronicles: A Day on the Boardwalk [Beach]

My little brother recently came home for Christmas break & one of his few request was to go to the beach. One Sunday evening myself & 2 of my friends honored that request & took him to Boardwalk Beach.

I am not a fan of swimming at the beaches in Hellshire because there is usually too much seaweed for my liking. I usually got to Ocho Rios, Portland or St. James for a beach day but whenever I want good seafood I visit Hellshire Beach (Half Moon Bay), whenever I want to lyme I go to Fort Clarence & whenever I want to relax without a long drive I usually head to Boardwalk Beach.

It is a quaint little spot with thatch gazebos & lots of space for beach games. There is also a bar/restaurant & a DJ. It is also a nice spot for a little “Night Beach” lyme.

It is an affordable spot with an entry fee of only  $200 JMD.

#DryLandTouristChronicles: Silent Hill, Clarendon

My first trek for 2016, took me to the quaint town of Silent Hill in the parish of Clarendon. A quiet farming district, it is one of the more unique districts in Jamaica. It is located close to the border of four parishes Clarendon, Manchester, St. Ann & Trelawny.

Our journey to Silent Hill began in the Old Capital Spanish Town. We had to catch a bus to Mandeville, Manchester.
