Rude Gyal Swag

On Saturday, May 24, 2014, my service club hosted a fundraising party called “EVOKE”. This was the fourth staging of the event and the second staging under the name “EVOKE”. This year’s theme was the “Braids N Bumpa.”

I was super excited to get the opportunity to play dress up. I love the 90’s extravagance because it was more toned down than the neon rush that was the 80’s. The 90’s was more about expressing one’s personality and point of view through clothing.

The focus of my outfit was my Mesh Merino. The Mesh Merino was a staple for Jamaican men in the 90’s so I decided to glam it up a bit with my personal style. I paired the merino with a pair of DIY booty shorts, black suspenders and a skinny belt with a gold plate to complement my gold toned accessories. I finished the look off with a pair of almost knee high stockings and patent leather combat boots (reminiscent of Dancehall fashion in the 90’s).

For my makeup, I went with a pseudo smokey eye with Red Lips. I highlighted my cheekbone and added a little blush to brighten up my face.

I had an amazing time at the party. Escape 24/7 was the perfect venue and the DJ’s served up some real old school niceness.
